Day 409

Hanging out...
Every year we buy a lounge swing for the back yard and every winter it gets destroyed. This year mother nature had a lot of help in the destruction process from Cotton. The other thing about this swing is that lizards absolutely love it and they come back every spring. Weird as it is, I think lizards are great. They are so personable for reptiles. Our seasonal pets...
This is the one my kids believe returns every year...
A a new little friend to look forward to...

Day 408

Egg Drop...
This week, L had to design and build a contraption that would protect an egg when dropped from a roof. It just so happens that today I got a package in with the pocket air fillers. So here she is making and testing her egg airplane!
Every good experiement needs instructions...
In a plastic baggie just in case the unthinkable happens...
Construction...

Yay! A finished product...
Time to test. It's always a good idea to start small and then...
Go bigger...
Just a sweet picture of my sweet boo....

Day 407b

Avoidance...
See post below to take an educated as to what I might possibly be avoiding. I mean really, with all the clothes my kids have, it could be three months before they run out so what's the hurry right? Besides, I wanted to play with the 50mm 1.2 for a little while during the sweet light anyway. Call it my continuing education...on site training...goofing off...whatever you want. At least enjoy the fruits of my irresponsibility!

I think this is my new favorite picture of M. I loooove it when she laughs.
I got one pic of my little man even though he was outside enjoying this lovely late winter chill, he still had gameboy in hand. UGH!

Day 407

The L word...
It should be in the four-letter category of words we shouldn't say. The ladies out there know it well. When you're sure you have finished, you haven't. When it's all clean and put away, there is more waiting. The chore I dread most above cleaning the bathrooms, above dusting every square inch of the house, above even cooking...GASP! Say it with me now...LAUNDRY (insert scary Psycho music here). It has gotten out of control lately (lately? who am I kidding?) so I had no choice but to tackle it (ok, maybe more like tap it on the shoulder) today.

Day 406

Loss...
I have been getting more and more calls for these sessions lately. It started as very rare and grew to at least once a month, now twice a month. The pain is so raw it burns all the way to your soul but you are there to do a job, provide a service and you can't let it get to you. Impossible? In a word, yes. I have been asked many times how I do it, I can't answer that question because I don't honestly know. Even after I have shot the images, have taken the solemn ride home to be greeted by my three beautiful, healthy children, and sit down to proof maybe three days later, I can still smell the room, feel the loss and uncertainty and question why this child and these parents. Only He knows and I have to put my trust in the God who created us and loved us enough to let His Son be that child first and knows first hand what it is to let a child go and see Him suffer for no wrong. These families never ever leave me. I weep for them constantly and pray for them daily. Their strength amazes me and I can only hope that the images I give to them helps them on their way to healing.

Day 405

Baby oh baby...
This was the weekend for newborn baby boys I tell ya! Isn't he the sweetest little thing ever and boy, was he strong! Fahgetabout swaddling this one, he was like Houdini; just when you thought you had him...bam! an arm was out. Still, I think we got some really great shots.

Day 404

Volley girls...
First up this morning was M's volleyball game and then team pictures for her team and another that I shoot every season. The girls are all so sweet and the coaches were so helpful and on the ball (no pun intended)!!
