Does this image make you burn with rage and your blood boil? Do you think to yourself, "that is what's wrong with American youth today, too many of them playing that blasted basketball?" Yeah, me neither...
What on earth is the world coming to when a basketball goal in a cul-de-sac is considered a controversy? What happened to neighbors talking to each other instead of calling in the hoa and requesting a nasty letter sent? The story goes as follows, me and my neighbor who actually have a house that separate us on the cul-de-sac went out and bought a hoop for our kids to play with during those long and boring summer days. We put in the cul-de-sac area nearest their house so that both us and our immediate neighbor could still get out of our driveways. To anyone driving by, it would actually appear to belong to them. Only person other than us knew definitively who it belonged to and she is the busy body, look in your windows, smile to your face and gossip about you behind your back type. Low and behold today we get a lovely notice telling us to remove it though our neighbors (whose house it was actually in front of) doesn't. T being the kind of man he is (the kind I love), goes to the neighbor on the other side of our friends and flat out asks if it was him, he says, "no of course not, I have no problem with a basketball goal." This answer came as no surprise as we already knew who it was but in the spirit of fairness, T is asking any whom it may have offended...yes, offended. This evening, I asked the neighbors that separate us and their answer was much the same. This leaves only her. Do we complain when her daughter not only doesn't stop at stop signs, but hits the gas instead prompting the neighborhood to install speed bumps? No. I wanted peace and hoped the speed bumps would solve the problem (of course, creating a new one as I am being punished for the actions of another, but that's life). When she cannot control her dog and it attacks my son and gets into my car and won't get out, do I confront her then? No. I figure C wasn't hurt and the dog is just dumb. When the bus can't get through in the morning because her daughter's boyfriend's car is parked headed the wrong direction and illegally on a curve? No. I figure the car gets hot and he wanted it in the shade to keep it cool. To be truthful, the basketball goal is against the hoa rules which I vehemently disagree with (they also loath the swim team and go out of their way to make it's members miserable) and at the end of summer we were planning on putting it away. But! So is parking on the street yet the good ole hoa seems powerless (or unwilling) to deal with that situation. A rule which this neighbor conveniently ignores along with the unspoken rule of not cutting through people's yards and allowing your dog to urinate on their trees. Wanna know my biggest pet peeve in this life? Hypocrisy.
With everything going on in the world, don't you think it is a little INSANE to get your panties in a bunch over a BASKETBALL GOAL??? People, celebrate the fact that kids want to be outside playing with one and other and not in front of the tv or computer!
